Dawa Health is Using Chatbots and Motorbikes to Get Women Screened for Cervical Cancer

21 April 2026

The tools to prevent – and eliminate – cervical cancer are effective and increasingly affordable. These days, the true challenge lies in making those tools available to women and girls, especially in areas with limited health infrastructure.

TogetHER for Health supports innovative cervical cancer projects in parts of the world where that unmet need is highest. That’s why we chose Zambia’s Dawa Health as one of our newest partners through our Cervical Cancer Grants Program

Dawa Health’s unique approach to getting Zambian women screened for cervical cancer combines cutting-edge AI chatbots and gold-standard HPV self-testing kits delivered by motorbike, supported by a trained network of community health workers. Dawa Health is literally delivering women’s health products and services at the last mile.

It’s a model we’re thrilled to spotlight in the first of our new video series focusing on our most recent grantees:

TogetHER’s Grants Program is designed to identify and support groundbreaking new models like Dawa Health’s, but we can’t do it alone. We launched our Prevention is the Point campaign in 2026 to mobilize $175,000, allowing us to fund five new projects that – like the one featured in this video – will inform and inspire efforts to bring cervical cancer prevention to girls and women in underserved communities in Alabama, and around the world.
