World Cancer Day – United by Unique
February 4th is World Cancer Day, an annual campaign organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilize action to address the global cancer epidemic. February 2025 marks UICC’s launch of a three-year campaign called “United by Unique,” which seeks to place people at the center of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
TogetHER is proud to partner with UICC, and we’re grateful for their strong advocacy for cervical cancer prevention and support for the global effort to end this preventable killer of women everywhere. We understand that every woman lost to cervical cancer has a unique impact on her family, community, and economy.
Cervical cancer is the first cancer we know how to eliminate. Using a holistic approach to ensure access and affordability of highly effective HPV vaccination, screening and early treatment, we can put this cancer in the history books. TogetHER is making the case for investment and action to end cervical cancer by:
- Launching our new Voices TogetHER series, highlighting the personal stories of the people and communities impacted by this disease, as well as those working on the frontlines to consign cervical cancer to the history books.
- Standing with global partners like the Commonwealth, the APAC Women’s Cancer Coalition, and our TogetHER members to push for new funding and more effective policies prioritizing cervical health in low-resource settings.
- Supporting innovative cervical health programs in low- and middle-income countries through our Cervical Cancer Grants Program.
- Launching a new LinkedIn group to provide a space to share information, ask questions and learn what’s working in the fight against cervical cancer. Click here to join!
These are just a few 2025 priorities – work that would not be possible without the support of our fiscal sponsor, Panorama Global.
As 2025 begins, the world is presenting the already under-resourced global cervical health movement with new obstacles, putting millions of women at unacceptable, unnecessary risk. That won’t deter us from continuing our battle to save these women’s lives.
As we say, TogetHER for Health isn’t just the name of our organization – it’s how we end cervical cancer everywhere, forever. That’s why we need each of our partners and dedicated individuals from across the world to bring their distinct talents and experiences to the fight. This World Cancer Day provides an excellent reminder that we are all indeed united by unique.
