Voices TogetHER – Impact Video from Slum and Rural Health Initiative

December 18, 2025

Reaching 90% of young women and girls with HPV vaccines in Africa’s most populous nation is an incredibly ambitious goal at the country level. But it won’t happen without smart strategies at the community level.

That’s a big reason TogetHER awarded Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHI) with a grant as part of our Cervical Cancer Grants Program’s 2024-2025 cohort. We thought their plan to build the capacity of young people to educate and inspire their peers was a great way to build acceptance and dispel harmful misinformation as Nigeria’s national HPV campaign was set to launch.

This final entry in our Voices TogetHER video series shines the spotlight on SRHI’s project once again to showcase the work of their 40 Youth4HPV champions, young people who are driven by a shared desire to protect themselves and their peers against HPV. The program is being implemented via social media, radio, television, print and – perhaps most importantly – through critical one-on-one conversations.

TogetHER is proud to highlight the tremendous impact of this work, which has reached over 20 million individuals across Nigeria – and counting.

Throughout 2025, our Voices TogetHER series has showcased dedicated practitioners and advocates doing their part to end cervical cancer deaths. We hope getting to know these courageous individuals a little better has inspired you as much as it’s inspired us.
