Partnering for Global Cervical Health

November 21, 2023

TogetHER for Health is a proud convener of global organizations which provide lifesaving cervical cancer prevention programs on the ground. Our member network includes many of the most impactful implementing organizations in women’s health across the globe. In fact, our member network’s global footprint spans more than 30 countries worldwide, and we’re thrilled to welcome both the Clinton Health Access Initiative and Grounds for Health as new members this year.

As part of our effort to spotlight partners, this week we’re launching a new brief focusing on four of TogetHER’s member organizations – Jhpiego, PATH, Pathfinder International, and Population Services International (PSI) – and projects they’re undertaking to increase access to effective cervical cancer prevention, including HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening and preventive treatment.

“This short list of programs underscores the power of investments in global cervical cancer prevention – and illuminates the potential impact of investing to ensure access to effective interventions at scale.”

While the organizations featured in the brief are working in different countries and contexts, the key message to take away is this: investments in cervical cancer save lives and strengthen communities. More on our network of member organizations can be found here.

TogetHER aims to support our members but also to partner with other organizations making critical contributions to enhancing access to cervical cancer prevention in low-resource settings. In April, TogetHER announced its latest round of funding through our Cervical Cancer Grants Program, which provides catalytic funding to trigger systemic health improvements such as policy changes, regulatory approvals, and the development of tools and strategies adaptable across the health system.

We’re proud to contribute to collaborations generating essential awareness and resources to end this preventable cancer. In September, TogetHER joined as founding members of the Global HPV Consortium and the Asia-Pacific Women’s Cancer Coalition, two groups seeking to build global and regional momentum toward cervical cancer elimination. We are members of the Union for International Cancer Control and Cervical Cancer Action for Elimination, whose efforts bring together key leaders in cervical cancer prevention for learning and to identify shared priorities and commitments.

Finally, we can’t talk about our partnerships without mentioning Operation Wipe Out, a U.S.-focused partnership co-founded by TogetHER, along with our long roster of local partners, to make Alabama the first of the United States with a statewide plan to end cervical cancer as a public health problem.

Contributions to our NovembHER campaign help our small organization amplify the efforts of the brilliant, dedicated practitioners and experts striving to get cervical cancer prevention to women no matter where they live. We can’t make cervical cancer elimination a reality without them. And we can’t do it without you.

We’re TogetHER for Health, because we can’t – and won’t – do it alone.
